A Simply Powerful Technique To Change Your Beliefs

Change your thoughts and your change your world.
-Norman Vincent Peale
If you want to change your thoughts permanently - it's important to adjust your beliefs. Your beliefs are merely those things you hold to be true.

If you'd like to think positively it wouldn't serve you to hold the belief that you cannot be successful. If you'd like to create more abundance, it wouldn't serve you to hold the belief that there are limited resources in the Universe.

You can easily change your beliefs. It requires a little bit of work - particularly if your beliefs are long-standing. I call this technique belief massaging, because it doesn't force the belief shift - rather it's gentle.
  1. Pick an area of your life where you'd like to see some change. For example I will use finances. Let's say I'd like the Universe to be more prosperous for me.
  2. Identify any limiting beliefs you might hold. Ask yourself why things aren't or couldn't be the way you want. Write the strongest beliefs you hold down. For my example let's say that I believe that I can never get ahead.
  3. For each limiting belief - choose a counter-belief that is more empowering. I choose the belief that I can become financially free.
  4. Now, here comes the magic. Get a notebook that you will carry with you. On every other page write one of your new, empowering beliefs.
  5. Then, as you go about your days- write down every piece of evidence you come across that supports your new belief. Ignore anything to the contrary. Pay attention to how you feel as your new belief grows.
Here's my example:
belief: I can be financially free
  • Many other people have gone from rags to riches before me, so it is very possible.
  • I know Jim who went from bankruptcy to owning a multimillion dollar business.
  • I got a raise at work - so my income has not hit the ceiling
  • I have many resources that I can use to generate income besides working.
  • etc. etc. etc.
You should be feeling more and more positive as you carry this exercise over the following days and weeks. You can completely remake your beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and Universe.

Happy New Year - Feel Good!

Happy New Year...seriously. Be happy in 2007. Why is it important to be happy? Is it just because it feels good?

From a metaphysical standpoint, emotions are vibrations of energy. You've probably heard or used the expression, "I got a weird vibe from that person." This is shorthand for talking about a feeling you got that you couldn't really wrap words around.

At our core, feelings are complexes of tens of thousands of thoughts. If your dominant thoughts are "negative" then you will get a bad feeling, if your dominant thoughts are happy - then you'll have a happy feeling. It really is that simple. And, when you let go of an unpleasant feeling, you are loosening the hold of thousands of thoughts over your mind.

Remember, your mind is your servant - it is there for you. You created it so you should be the one to tell it what to do.

Trying to hold conflicting thoughts or feelings creates an uncomfortable situation called cognitive dissonance. Eventually the dominant thought will win out. This is why people sometimes describe depression as a downward spiral. You can build emotional momentum, so let's move it in the right direction.

The law of attraction states that we create what we focus on. So, the emotional state is not just a barometer, but it is also a creative tool. Staying negative only creates those things you do not want. Positive emotions, leading to positive thoughts, can only create that which you want.

Find some tools to use to get yourself into a happy state and stay there. Beware of escapism, it only masks the underlying state. Self inquiry using tools like the Sedona Method, is one of the best ways to do this.
